srcmstr no accepting connections - can't telnet

Can't telnet from any client to RS6k running AIX 4.3.3 - when trying to restart tcpip (rc.tcpip) it complains the the srcmstrt is not accepting connections - Can you beat my AIX support provider in responding???

hi,

is your inetd daemon running ?

try refresh -s inetd

or stop and starting inetd daemon

Juts tried this refresh but the inted daemon is not started and when trying to refresh ot compains that the socket master is not accepting connections?? Error 0513-051

are you saying the inetd daemon is not running ?
if you are then start it up

startsrc -s inetd

check if it si running ,lssrc -s inetd ( should show active)

Aplogies - inetd is not running and will not start.with start commands. It complains with the following: -

The System Resource controller is not accepting connections.

hi,

what does netstat -an | grep 200 show
in /etc/servicess SRC listens on udp port 200 , the problem may be the the srcmstr daemon has gone a bit loopy ,

you can try killing the srcmstr daemon and then do a telinit -q it should respawn it self

hi,

netstat -an | grep 200 didn't show anything relevant to srcmstr

killed the srcmstr daemon and it respawned

??
