Hi,

Some days ago, I was packaging an application where I was making a connection to SQL Server.

I was using win2000 and, when I tried to install it in a win98 machine it didn´t work... some files were missing :(

Now, I need to make the same to access97 ( I think this is the version).

So, my question is, where can I find information about the files needed to be distribute when making connection to SqlServer and Access , including the different version of it.

Note that is important to know too, what type of reference to ADo should I make... ado2.0?; ado2.5?....got it?

I would like to understand this once for all.

Thank you,

Sergio Olveira

Microsoft has created two installation programs that install all the necessary components required for access to SQL or MS Access databases. These can be found at:

If you are coding anything new, I would recommend using MDAC 2.5 or higher. If you install MDAC 2.6 or higher you must also install the DAO 4.0 setup if you wish to connect to Access 4.0 databases. Windows 2K automatically comes with MDAC 2.5 and DAO 4.0

Hope this helps.
