I'm trying to troubleshoot a datastore problem that always returns a -1 when I issue li_Retcode = ds_1.update().

I put a breakpoint in the SQLPreview event and captured the value of SqlSyntax. Next, I executed that SQL statement in the database painter, it worked just fine.

What can possibly be wrong with the datastore?

First hardcode the sql with the variable values in the datastore and run and see if it works. It could be a problem with the arguements being passed to it.

When you get the -1 return code from the update, what is the message text in the SQLCA object?
