We are running an ERP system with sqlbase. We are thinking of upgrading to sqlserver. Can anyone tell me the advantages and disadvantages between these two? Also we currently run this ERP with the actual applications on the server with the sqlbase. Can this be done the same way with sqlserver?

SQL Server and Sybase share the same "Basic Engine" which was co-developed by the 2 companies. There are even great similarities between the DB programming language [t-sql].

But MS SQL server has been enjoying so much popularity, I think it would be a better choice, especially if the price is the same. It's integration with the underlying OS[win2000] is great. And, especially if you are using MS development tools then MS SQL would be a more natural choice..
