We upgraded our AS400 to the iSeries i5 3 weeks ago. I needed to add a table to an existing catalog, and encountered the following when I selected Add:

[IBM][iSeries Access ODBC Driver][DB2 UDB] SQL0901 - SQL System Error.

After the upgrade, all PTFs were applied and our IBM service levels appear up-to-date.

The odd thing is that I can build a new catalog and add that same table without a problem. My thoughts are running toward permissions: I can create, but can't append. Any advice?

Talked to IBM this morning, and found they have seen this problem with SQL several times in the past few months. The solution is to delete your SQL Package on the iSeries, and recreate it, which will generate the proper updated ODBC driver for SQL.

Hope this helps anyone experiencing this vexing problem.

Tom
