Hope someone can help me with this annoyance...

Every time I open MS SQL Server Management Studio it automatically creates a folder in My Documents. However, I have the same folder stored elsewhere, as I don't want it at this level - is there any way I can point it to this other location instead so I don't have these excess folders being created?

Thanks

I don't believe so.

You may want to try the following. I am not sure if it will work or not (never tried and don't want to either [smile]) but worth a shot!

In SSMS, go to Options --> Query Results.

There point "Default location for saving query results:" to the folder you want

Close SSMS, delete the My Documents folder and start SSMS again. See if it creates the folder again.

Let us all know the results [smile]

I'd already tried doing that actually, and it doesn't work :(

I believe the relevant registry values for these settings are stored in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\Shell

You could try updating the default values located under this key. Please use with caution though, I suggest you create a registry backup first.
