Hi,

I have a SQL server that a consultant would like to add a database to...

How would I go about adding the database to the server for it to run from our server instead of it running from his home and causing lag?

Is there any thing that I have to do exactly.

I do not have enough experience with Sql server to do this.
Can you tell me the steps?

Thank you!

Easiest thing would be to have them send you a backup file of the database.

Then in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) right click on databases and choose restore database. Fill in that screen and hit ok.

okay..that sounds easy enough...I can do that...so all of the data would be stored on our server...can the database take up a great deal of space?

Well that kinda depends on the size of the database. If it is big it will take up a lot of space otherwise not.

They should be able to tell you how large it is before they send it to you.

If this is a new application I would guess it is not that large.
