Does anyone have any experiences or recommendations for a database diff tool (compare two databases, highlight the differences, make a script to synchronise them).

There seem to be several on the market (e.g. Adept, Apex, Red Gate) at similar prices. Project timescales mean that I don't have enough time to get them in for evaluation, and right now anything would be a whole lot better than what I have at the moment, which is nothing.

But I don't want get the first one only to discover I've bought a Betamax rather than a VHS[smile]

Any feedback greatly appreciated.

Steve

I use redgate's SQL compare (along with the other products data compare and DTS compare), it works fine most of the time.
If the changes in the database are complicated (in that you have alot of changes to the schema, procedures, indexes etc) the scripts for managing the changes dont work straight off and need some minor changes, but on the whole it has been great.

Thanks for this. RedGate seems to be a popular choice.

Check SQL Delta.
It has got a trail version seems to do what you are looking for.
