New to SQL Server and wondering what a good reporting application/tool is?

I am planning on upgrading several Access 2000K database applications from a desktop environment to a browser based application which will completely run on a webserver. In the past I have always used "Reports" within Access to generate reports.

Some of the following functionality would be nice.

1.) Users can view and print reports from within web browser.

2.) Control and or generate the reports with ASP.

3.) No need for any specialized software on users machine, only Internet Explorer for example.

4.) The ability to convert and/or view the report as a PDF.

I have just started researching Crystal Reports 9, not sure if Crystal Reports provides this functionality, am I headed in the right direction?

Does any one have any suggestions?

Thanks a million.

We created a system using sql asp and crystal reports. It does all you are after. You will need to purchase the crystal reports server software which is quite expensive to serve reports (in pdf format) to users but whole thing works very well

Hope this helps

You might also look into Active Reports from Data Dynamics. I have used the standard edition to create and distribute PDF reports via the web. It did require some tricky asp and html because you have to save the pdf to disk on the server and then have the browser download the file. MSRP is $499.

There is a professional version for $1,299 that is supposed to stream pdf, html and rdf formatted reports, but I have no experience with it. This version is also supposed to allow the end user to create or modify reports at runtime, if desired.
