We're running Windows 2000 Advanced Server with SQL Server 7.0 on a machine that has 4G of RAM. SQL has a target memory usage of 1.8G despite our recent RAM upgrade (from 2G to 4G). We added the /3GB switch to the boot.ini file, but SQL still wants to use only 1.8G.

What do we have to do so that SQL Server 7.0 takes advantage of the other memory on the machine?

Thank you,

Fritz

Your SQL server is probably Standard Edition.
Standard Edition supports only up to 2 Gb.
You need SQL server Enterprise edition to ba able to use more that 2 Gb of available RAM memory

Good Luck

Yep, Enterprise will be needed here.

Yep, it sure does. SQL 2005 is not supose to have this memory cap any more.
