Can anyone advise please how to setup SQL Server 08.. what are the required components to install to use queries, create tables, etc... similar user environment to have an access database - i've added a link to view

have you tried clicking on the new sql server link?
It's the first one in your image list...

If you read the description, it suggests clicking on this link will initiate the setup process...

The first item on that screen is the database engine. This is what stores the databases which hold the tables and data. The management tools are the user interface which allows you to create tables, and query the database.

SQL Server does not include a forms system like Microsoft Access does. You are expected to create your own user front end for your users to use using VB.NET, C#, ASP.NET, etc.
