hi all, i'm trying to get sql mail to work. I have installed outlook, have a mail profile, etc. but when I do a xp_startmail in QA I get this message:

xp_startmail: Your SQL Server Service is running under the local system account. You need to change your SQL Server Service account ro run under a domain account in order to complete this operation

Any idea why mail wont start? Also can mail startup as a service somehow?

Thanks for any help ahead of time.

the mail profile must be set under the same <domain><account> that SQL server service start with.

on the computer on which SQL server start, launch MMC, look in the server properties with wich account starts SQL and change it with a windows <domain><account>

setup your SQL Server to run under a windows account, not the local system account. Check out this FAQ faq962-4452.

Thanks everyone. I found the problem with the local account vs the domain account. Now its working ok.
