Hello all!

I am running Crystal Reports version 7.

I have used crystal sql designer to import and sql query from excel. I saved it as a *.sql file. I need to import that query into one of my crystal reports. Anyone know how to do this?

Hi
I thought that the SQL Designer saved files as .qry ?
If you are using a *.qry:

If the report that you need to import the Query file into is already written, I have always found it best to use it in a subreport. Insert | Subreport | Crystal SQL Query
Pick the .qry needed. Otherwise - when you select "New" report, Select "Crystal SQL Query" and choose the relevant query from here.

Let me know if this isn't what you're trying to do and I will help if I can.
Justine.

The sql query is already written and saved as a .sql file.

From inside crystal reports I tried to insert a subreport: Insert | Sub report.

The only option I thought you meant inside the Subreport Expert was the 'sql/odbc' option. Upon selecting that and choosing the table, how do I use the .sql file I already create`?

Cheers,
- Iain

LOL - Nevermind - I noticed a blatantly obvious option for a 'query' instead of the 'sql/odbc'!

When I select the appropriate .sql file and click 'open' a new window comes up called 'choose new location'. what does this mean? When I click 'open' in this window it dissapears and nothing happens.

cheers,

- Iain
