SQL -> HTTP

Is it at all possible to send a http req through SQL server??

ie. I send parameters from SQL server to the http server via a url address??

Any ideas would be appreciated :O)

Some companies have information requests via url sites where you pass in parameters and get information out. My company does a similar thing, where we have to interface with out clients via http.

Say with something like coldfusion you need to pass parameters in via the url

i.e.

http://www.website.co.uk/test.cfm?param1=2

Of course if we have the data which they want, we curently have a piece of coldfusion code which sends them information to their url and updates their server.

I know there are betters ways - but this is how a lot of companies work.

I was wondering it there is anything in SQL Server which could mimic this action, i.e. of sending the url string to internet explorer
