I had SQL server desktop edition installed (on a win2k 128mb P3500)and ran a simple create table script. After running that I was no longer able to connect to the server. The server continued to say "SQL server is not known to be running" or "did not respond in a timely fashon" I uninstalled sql server but now the connection fails when it is testing the server at installation. The thing is the service manager tells me that the DB is running but I cannot start the Server agent. I am new to SQL server but all the looking I have done at microsoft.com and in the msdn has not been much help.

Any Ideas?

Andy

1.)To use MSSQL Server as server you must have a PD
installed. I think that in your case is not posible
becouse you have only the Desktop edition. With this
you can not manage MSSQL Database.
2. On Win2k Pro you can install only the Developer Edition.
3. For MSSQL Database Management you need the Enterprise
Editionn that run under Win2k Server or Advanced server
