Do I have to have domain setup in order to have the client(report serverice running to connect to the sql 2005 report server database in the backend? Is there way I can set it up if the user is in the workgrop, will it work?

use sql server authentication and not windows. you'll have to reference the server by IP probably though. I've nvr played with workgroups so I'm not 100% sure on resolving names

Is there a way to view the report on the client machine since the report is on the sql server? I don't want to have port 80 open on the sql server. What tools can I use.

Many thanks,

Are you serious? Maybe I just didn't read that correctly. You can't see the reports from the clients? Huh????

Mr. philhege,

I've been following this thread very closely because I also want to use reporting services, but without any ports open. I got [!]very[/!] excited when I saw your post. Unfortunately, that link doesn't work. [cry]

Do you have another suitable link that I can use?

Sorry, I'll make it a bit clearer...

This time the link should work and give you some results.... read through them carefully and then come back to this thread.

Does that make it any clearer ? :)
