Please could someone tell me the difference between an SQL 2005 Standard and Enterprise Licence.

we have a server which has been built as Windows 2003 Enterprise - it has 8GB memory and quad core processor but SQL 2005 Standard has been installed

Thanks for this but Im trying to find out server memory of processor limitations that apply to SQL Licencing

Both the standard edition and Enterprise edition can use all the RAM in the server. The limit is based on the hosting operating systems limit. SQL 2005 Standard supports 4 physical CPUs (it doesn't matter how many cores those processors have the limit is based on the number of physical CPUs).
