Hello,

I am replicating from one server to asnother with a firwall between them. Three of the replications are transactional and one is snapshot. The transactional ones are schedule every hour and the snapshot once a day. Two nights ago they did someting to the Pix (firewall) and now one of transcation replications fail with cannot connect to server. I have reinitialised all the replications succesffully but when you start the synchro one of the will fail with that errror. The error details says there is a timeout problem with the the ODBC driver. It seems logical to me, so what timeout do adjust, how do I adjust, and what sort of setting should I use?

Thanks

If there have been some changes to the firewall and previous to that it was working fine I would suspect the firewall.

Can you ping the servers from either end or browse and see it from either end?

Do you know what changes where made to the firewall?

The timeout would indicate they are not comminicating unless any of the lines have changed in anyway as again they where previously ok.

We do suspect the firewall changes to be the factor that made this go wrong, however we would also like to see if we can adjust setting to alievate the problem without having to rollback the firewall changes and lose the improvement they say it has made. Hence my question about adjusting timeouts. I mean when I reinitialised the replications and started the agents it sent up the initial snapshots, it is just when we start the sync's that the timeout appears. I know little about firewalls but I would say that the changes made may have slowed things down a little and hence timeouts are occurring as I have some sync's scheduled at the same time, which I must.

Thanks for your answer
