We're looking at upgrading our aging SQL box for something with a bit more power and memory in it.
If I understand correctly, to get access to more than 4Gb of RAM, I need a Windows installation that will also access the extra, so I'm looking at Server 2008 (x64).
However, the additional cost in migrating to SQL 2005 or 2008 looks prohibitive (at least to my management...!), so can I run our existing SQL 2000 Enterprise (32bit AFAIK) on the proposed new box, and get access to the more RAM?
All donations of better ideas gratefully accepted
