SQL 2000 Client Install Error

Hi All,
I have been installing SQL server 2000 Client connectivity on my Compaq Armada 7400 Laptops that have WIN 2000 Pro and 256 RAM. I have one laptop that refuses to load SQL 2000 client. No matter what I try I get the following at the end:
Setup Can't Install MDAC, Error (-1). I install this as an administrator and even unstalled the "hotfix 823539" which sometimes cause a problem with SQL 2000 client, but no luck. Anyone have any ideas, please?

I have encounter that error once, when installing SQL server 2000. What I did is reinstall the OS and installation works fine later.
