Hi there,

In my SPS2003 server, we created calendar for entering activities.

1. By default "begin" & "end" are date+time field,
how can I change both to date field?
i.e. I don't want to see the time info at all.

2. By default "begin" is a mandatory field but "end" is not,
how can I change "end" to a mandatory field?

Thanks so much for your help!

Not sure if I'm completely off the charts here, but the answer to both your questions may be to select the correct options in the configuration of the web part.

Typically I've done something similar for my Announcements, i.e. forcing users to enter an expiration date. I did this by going to the 'Modify settings and columns' page for this web part, then under Columns I click on the field to change. In the area named 'Optional Settings for Column' there is a choice where it says 'Require that this column contains information'. Selecting yes will make it mandatory. The option below lets you select date only.

Hi Dask,

Thx for the info. I tried that before, it didn't work on any existing fields.

If I created a new field in the calendar, then it works, I can set it mandatory, and other column settings as well. It just won't work for me on existing fields. (p.s. existing fields here refer to system default fields, not those I created).

If you have any suggestion, please feel free to discuss.
Thanks in advance!

I'm pretty new to sharepoint and I hope this helps, I had a similar thing where the boss wanted an in / out of office list with the Execs names listed and the in and out times not mandatory.

I opened the site in Frontpage 2003, right clicked on lists then new sharepoint list. From there you can create your own 'customised calendar \ list' by specifying fields and whether or not they allow blanks, i.e. if they are mandatory or not.

I used the New List Wizard to do mine, very easy and then you just add it as a web part from the portal site after.

Cheers.

Sorry I forgot the first part of your question, if you choose a date/time field, it will prompt you if you want it to just date or date and time.
