spooler problems with hp 610cl 1

When my Hp 610cl prints it causes my computer to lag, and if I have several print jobs queued I might as well go somewhere else and not even use the computer. Is there anyway to fix this?

Is the print spooler enabled?

On a 690 properties-details-spool settings and then there are boxes for spool print jobs or print directly to printer.
check spool print jobs, ok, and then apply settings and exit-see if that helps. The 610 menu should be similar to the 690 that I described above.

yes the spooler was enabled. start printing after first page is spooled was marked. changed it to start printing after last page is spooled. not sure if it will make much difference. thanks for responding.

The change you made will take longer to start. It is a legacy problem that haunts LPTs and COM ports. When in use, they hog the CPU time.
Get a faster processor or use another comp to spool the jobs to. It wont spool any faster but it will get it off your machine while it is printing. Some help I guess.

Is hard drive getting full?

Have you defragged recently?

Well I solved my problem. Thanks for all the ideas and help. I solved it by going to Best Buy and purchasing a new printer. I got an HP 5500 and now no lag. thanks again.
