I recently installed a new printer on our Windows 2000 Server box and now the Spool Service is dead. I used the HP Netword Printer Wizard and it told me it could not find an appropriate driver, so I went to setup the printer manually only to find an empty printer list ! When I try to add a printer, it says that the subsystem is not availaible. The spool service is down, and everytime I start it, it looks like it's running fine, but as soon as I go to Control Panel - Printers, the service shuts down giving an event ID of 7031. Have you ever encountered this problem ?

Thanks, I had to manually remove entries from the registry and delete some files that were causing the service to stop responding.
