I am having trouble with one particular user getting spontaneously logged off of MAS200. We are running version 3.71, approx. 12 simultaneous users.

He can't link this to anything in particular. A lot of the time he has been in a particular module and left his office. When he returns to his office MAS is gone. If he tries to log in, he gets the message about a session already being active. I can look under Master Console and only see one indication of him having a task open and it's the one that shows what program he is in. The other task that just shows "MAS" isn't displayed. I then kill the task and he's able to log in. This particular user is using a laptop but I don't know if that has anything to do with the situation. This is becoming particularly bothersome. It started happening once a week but has progressed to occurring daily. He has also been in the midst of working and the MAS screen just disappears.

I've also had one other user complain of this and he's also on a laptop, however, it hasn't happened to him in a while.

Any ideas as to how to fix this?

Are you sure that user doesn't have "automatic logoff" turned on?

Yes. In fact, when I looked at the MAS200 "Windows Prefs" for this user (and also on my machine) it is not only NOT turned on...it's not even there to select.

We had a theory yesterday that maybe his "wired" network connection is dropping out due to a loose connection on his laptop. We have wireless which is supposed to connect if the "wired" connection drops out. However, in the last several weeks he's changed offices and the wireless signal is weak. So perhaps if the wireless connection takes too long to connect, it causes MAS200 to drop out?

We welcome any and all other theories. Thank You!

MAS really doesn't do switching from different connections.

...and left his office. When he returns to his office MAS is gone." You should not leave MAS up and running if you are leaving your office for any length of time. Also I have seen this happen due to power settings. If the network card is set to "sleep" after periods of inactivity and you have indicated he leaves his office this maybe the cause. He leaves his office for an extended period of time, the unit goes into "sleep" or "hibernate" mode and losed network connections and when he comes back, no MAS. Gosh imagine that.

Thank You BigLouie. I'll check that out. As for "You should not leave MAS up..." you've heard the saying "you're preaching to the choir"...? Well, I've "preached" this to no avail. Anyway, thanks for the info on the network card. [smile]
