Splitting Oracle Applications report to Multiple Excel Files

Hi All,

Currently I am facing problem while importing text file generated from Applications. I have written a report when the user runs it emails the output delimited by PIPE so that users can import that file to excel.In order to do this excel has got some limitation on the no of records it imports. Currently it cannot import text file to excel if text file contains more than 65,536 records. My report most of the time outputs more than 65,536 records.
My query is how will I split text file to more than one text file if I get more than 65,536 records, This is from oracle reports point of view. Is there any other way to bypass and import the the whole file even though it contains volumnous records?

On the client side you can define Excel to be the default IE viewer for text output. See Note:316752.1 on Metalink.
Another option would be to use Discoverer.

I have checked that note See Note:316752.1 for excel files thats fine. But my problem is if I get report ouput for more than 65,536 records then it will not import to excel or I cannot load all the data at one go.

OK, you are right. I just tried and indeed you can not scroll spreadsheet below that number or lines. I have just confirmed with Excel experts that it is fundamental Excel restriction that can not be overcome. So your client will never be able to see the entire output in one spreadsheet.
I would talk to the client if any kind of pre-processing of the data can be made on the report side, so that data could be aggregated not to exceed the limit.

Try to use a functionality called 'bursting'.
So you can create one excel file for each top level group with only one execution.
