OK so here goes it. I have bben tasked with figuring out a way to split a T1.

We have company A who has a T1 and company B who wants to use Comany A's T1 but wants their network to remain separate.
Im not sure if this is possible but both companies need the internet access from the T1 but want their networks to be separate.

Hope someone can help
Thanks

This is very simple:

Stick a firewall behind the router that is connected to the T1 and then install additional 1FE card to the firewall which means you will have DMZ and then connect each company to their own interface.

2nd option is to create subinterfaces on backside of the router that is connected to the T1 and give each company their own logical interface

ok excuse my rock headiness but maybe i should clarify we have no router just a Cisco Pix 506e and a two managed d-link des-3550 switches.
Is there anyway to accomplish this task with those componnents ?
If not any recommendations on what i need to purchase to accomplish this goal.

Thanks

Jabney

You will need to check the license of your PIX and see how many interfaces you can create.

you just need to create one more logical interface which will give you one physical and logical interfaces, after that you just need to create two VLANs, the port of the switch that is connected to the PIX needs to be a trunk port so it can carry traffic for both VLANS
