Just changed out a spirit with a partner ACS. The spirit had external ringers / bells that were pluged into its "bell" port. When I plug these into the partner they continuously ring. can I adapt these or do I need to buy and install new bells?

Extra alerts help make users aware of incoming calls. For example, you can use an audible
alert (chime, horn, or bell) to replace a telephone ring in a noisy area, such as a factory.
Similarly, you can use a visual alert (strobe or light) to replace a telephone ring in a quiet area,
such as a library.

We all need a little help once in awhile. Tony the Phoneman..

To answer your question, the extra alert on the Spirit system used 48VDC, NOT 90VAC which is what the Partner delivers (and for an ON hook extension, it delivers 48VDC which is why the alerts continously signal when plugged into a station port)

So, no, you can't reuse the Spirit alerts, you're going to need to replace them.

Now, if they're "universal alerts", there are DIP switch settings inside to change them for various input voltages. You'd have to check the Avaya site for the manuals. However, given the age of the Spirit, it's unlikely.

TouchTone, thanks for the reply. I imagine viking or someone may make an adapter I could put in the middle to send 48v, but I think I will go ahead and replace them. Keep it simple...

You could use a 90VAC relay, and a 48V power supply, but unless there is a large number of alerts all ringing at the same time, it would be better to just replace them.
