Hi there,

When I merge a letter, spell check no longer seems to work. Errors are not picked up even if manually run spelling and grammar check. I tried going to Review and unchecking the "Do not check spelling or grammar." This box is slightly shaded in because some of the text includes addresses. This fixes it for future errors but not for any mistakes that are already there. Can anyone suggest where this setting might be hidden?

Thank you!
Katy

Hi,

Should you not run spell checker BEFORE you do your MailMerge?

ha. true. but i don't know why spell check gets turned off by default. is there a way to change the settings so it doesn't turn off in the first place?
is there a way to make it so i don't have to go into the review section and uncheck that box?

Sorry - missed '2007' in post header.

The behaviour is by design - the merged document is set to not check spelling & grammar so that no-one will be encourgaed to edit things that should have been finalised before the merge was run. As Skip so succinctly put it:
Should you not run spell checker BEFORE you do your MailMerge?

Ah. I understand. Thank you.
The problem is that we often have to make changes to individual letters after they have been merged. Should i just uncheck the box for these particular letters?
Is there another way around this by design feature?

Hi kamonster,

Yes, tp re-enable spell-checking, you'll need to uncheck the setting for the document concerned. That could be automated via a macro, but it hardly seems worth the effort.
