Hi,

I am receiving the same error message as Marky4556 did in the 'Configure router for DSL thread'. "Cannot find a PPPoE server" when I try to have my Linksys BEFSR41 router and my Efficient Networks Speedstream 5360 DSL modem. My ISP is SBC/Ameritech. I can connect directly to the modem and using the Enternet software, I can get connected however when I try to use the router to connect I receive that message. I called Linksys and they told that this router will not work with this modem. I find this hard to believe. I tried Marky's suggestion on the exact order to do things however this did not work.

Any help would be appreciated.

Once the phone service attaches to your house, from that point forward is CPE (Customer Premises Equipment). Unless the TOS (Terms of Service) specificly says anything to the contrary, you can do whatever you want to the modem as long as the intent and consequence do not violate the TOS or is a criminal act.

The folks at broadbandreports.com can handle any password issue, and any configuration issue you may face. Believe me, the eat modems for breakfast. And they are a no nonsesne user-to-user source of opinions as to how to make your service work best.

Thank you for the nice thoughts about my participation here. I hope you become an active member of the Forums. Please be sure to look at all the Forums available.

Best,
