We many jobs that currently run in Foxpro 2.6a (Dos) that are currently running on PIII's under Windows 98. We've been able to run these same jobs under Windows NT4 pn PII's and PIII's with no problem.

However, we got in a new Dell PIV box with 256MB RAM running NT 4 with SP5 installed and we have had some serious problem running Foxpro. While it does eventually load without any error messages, it takes much, much longer to run. It takes 20 seconds just to start Foxpro (it only take 3 seconds on my 400mhz PII running NT4 with 198 MB RAM). Doing anything in Foxpro takes much, much longer than it does on any other PC we have (various PIII's and PII's running either WIndows 98 or NT 4).

Any ideas?

It may not be Foxpro. Check your network settings on the local PC and see if you have both NetBuei and TCP/IP running. For whatever reason if both are running this affects the Virtual Dos Machine that Fox 2.6 runs in and just about kills it.

To resolve, remove Netbeui from the network and the local machine.

I'm experiencing same problem over Novell network. All other pcs operating OK. But, newer Pentium 4 with 256MB Ram running FoxPro 2.6 application very slowly. Any luck with this one?

Make sure that the extended run-time version of Fox is being loaded. You can force this by running your programming in this way: FOXR +X yourprog.exe. On some machines FoxPro defaults to the wrong version.
