I want to have a button on a phone which is set to 'dial' then 95554441212,,,,,130. I want this to dial a number pause a few seconds then key in a particular extension. It doesn't work? Any idea why? How do you insert pauses into a dial string. It dials the number but doesn't insert any pauses nor the 3 digit extension?

Are you dialing over PRI lines? If so, are you trying to dial an account code, or something after the other end answers (for example an extension number to an AA).

Morrack, just over POTS lines. We are trying to 'speed dial' another office that is answered by an AA then opt out with a 3 digit extension.

Try this :

Create a Shortcode like this:
SC = 95554441212xxx
TN = 5554441212DN
Line ID = your linegroup ID
function = dial

I do not know if it works but here you have an explanation:

SC = 95554441212xxx
it starts with a "9" as i assume you dial a 9 for external number, 5554441212 the other partys number, xxx = the desired extension

TN = 5554441212DN
5554441212 is the other party to call, "D" will wait for connection ( if possible on alog ) and N is the choosen extensionnumber.
If "D" doesnt work then replace it with "," (without quotes)each "," entered wil force one second pause before sending the extension number as DTMF.

VMail I've done this before with analog lines, it should be working. Are you sure you don't need more pauses? The only way to troubleshoot this effectively is to force it to use one particular trunk (after hours or create a test shortcode for this purpose) and clip onto that line with your buttset. Listen in on what is happening - if you hear dialing, then a brief pause and more dialing while the call is still ringing through you need more pauses.
