Speed Dial to external number

We've recently rcovered from big problems with our IP Office, which I believe were caused by wider problems on the server. We've got everything back up and running now, but there is still one problem: I've reset everyone's telephone numbers for their speed dial buttons and they now all seem to work apart from those to external lines, which return 'Unobtainable'. I've tried with and without a prefixed '9' to the same effect.

How do you have the shortcode programmed currently?

I had the number assigned directly to a DSS key. I've now created a shortcode to dial the number and assigned the shortcode to a DSS key. That seems to work OK.
