Hi, I have a strange issue with a BCM 450 system.
Most hones are showing the Directory when program a button with the F*900 key but I have few IP1230 that display Speed Dial> on that button instead of Enter Last Name.
Does anyone encountred this issue before?

Where in the part Nortel BCM450 do you see Avaya IPOffice?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

i am using Avaya Business Element Manager to program the phones.
The ath is Telephony--Sets--Active Sets-- i select the phone and choose -- Capabilities and preferences--Button Programing table. The Feature that i use for all phones is F*900 and on most phones is showing Directory instead of "IPSrvList" on the programmed button. But on few IP1230 i get "IPSrvList" and when select it i get Speed Dial> ... It should be Directory..Any help greatly appreciated..my boss is screaming...wants his directory...

Tell your boss to hire a certified engineer who knows the system.
Overhere you will not find many engineers who are
1) willing to help for free
2) know a Nortel

I am not trying to be rude, i try toget the discussion going on why you think you could get free support?
Get a maintenance contract with a good telecoms company who knows your PBX.
I do deliver support but only the sun shines for free.
For "support" should be payed like any other service.
Somehow the world wide economy must be kept running otherwise it will end like countries as Greece and Spain!

yes it is...can't wait to scrap this system. Is a painful process even to check your call logs... I used Avaya for 4 years and Mitel for 3..no comparison..

You could replace the BCM with an IPOffice and reuse some or all phones. (depends on type)

Well I don't know what Business Element Manager is, although in only 11 years of working with this product I'm sure I've missed something or perhaps it is a Nortel carryover. Manager is the only proper tool for programming/managing the IP Office. I don't know what you mean by "program the phones" as you don't program the phone you program the phone SYSTEM and in turn that controls the features of the phones.

You'll probably find it a bit difficult to get support here if you aren't using the most appropriate tools as few people in this forum are familiar with Nortel programming.

That being said it is not at all uncommon for the same feature to display differently on different models of phones.

hi kyle...you are right but the BEM is the interface you use to program the PBX including specific functions for each button on each phone you are deploying. Is the equivalent of Avaya Integrated Management Site Administration for Avaya PBXs.

Peter, believe me the first chance I'll get I will replace it. I used to use Avaya S8300 Media Server with Avaya G700 Media Gateway at my old place... was very happy with it and i was looking to upgrade to an IP Office system...Here is like going back in time...

Today i have installed ASA on a Windows 7 PC and this customer has a S8400 in a cabinet.
It is not my cup of tea but it works.

yes is a good tool and it works fine. And the features on Avaya are great and clear to use for the users. the only strange issue i found is when you try co connect to the Media Server via http from a different Vlan, is very slow. it takes a while before it sends packages outside its own network to the gateway. weird one...

BTW the answer is F988: Feature F988. The label "Voice Mail Direct" it stands for "Voice Mail Directory"....lack of available bits on the labeling field i guess...lol...also you can only add a name up to 8 characters when you try to label a name to an extension. damn is frustrating...
