Spectralink netlink SVP100 Issue - Intermittent Voice Quality issues

We have a spectralink i640 system (i640 handsets) running SCCP over our network and have a SVP100 (model #SVP101) controller that prioritises the voice traffic with our cisco aironet access points.
We have had this system running very smoothly for over 2 years.
Recently, the SVP controller started getting ethernet frame errors, or at least we noticed them when users started to complain about garbled voice when using the wireless phones.
A Power cycle of the SVP100 unit restored voice quality to normal.
We thought that maybe there was a bad network cable, switch port or congested link so we replaced everything and moved to the core of the network. same issue.
We reduced the port from 100 to 10mbit which eliminated any new ethernet frame errors.
However, basically when the unit is on for 5 days exactly the quality of voice deteroriates to a point where you can't carry on a conversation and the only fix is to power cycle the unit. 5 days like clock work.

A Replacement unit costs $1900cdn so we dont really want to buy a new one if we dont need it. It has the latest firmware and the network is not congested.
Polycom wont help us as we dont have an active maintenenace agreement with them.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Yes, the wireless access points appear to be working properly. nothing has really changed on them, and our cisco ip phones and other wireless devices are working without issue.
again, power cycling the SVP server resumes normal operation of the spectralink devices.

Sounds like hardware issue on the controller, processor, memory leak or something along those lines is failing. I don't know this product but that is where I would start.

I don't know the SVP100 and if you have the ability to "take it apart" or if it is a sealed unit, so if I sound like a complete idiot just have a chuckle on me....

I had a problem with a PBX last December that would work normally later at night and on the weekends and got to a point where it would continuously reboot itself during the day when it got busy. It turned out to be a bad memory module and replacing it fixed the problem - if you can replace the memory and the cost is low that might be an option.

Does the thing have a "network card" or some other kind of replaceable network module? You tried the cable and the switch port, etc, but it didn't sound like you tried anything with the port on the device itself?

Merely reseating the parts above if that is an option might help.

Next I wonder about the unit's power supply - is it flaky or does it have temperature issues. If the thing is well vented try getting a small fan to blow over it and see if keeping it cooler helps - especially if you've recently added a bunch of new hardware in the data center and the temps may be rising a bit.

You haven't recently added any new items of equipment in the vicinity of this device that may generate RF?? It could be fluctuations in the load of an RF device, or having an RF device plugged into the same power source as this unit, or some kind of process that runs once a week - like a backup session or something that is straining the resources of this device or polluting it's power supply when it runs?

Do users in one area of your facility have more problems than users in other areas? Does the problem seem to start in one area and spread or does it affect everyone at the same time?

These are just some ideas that ran through my head - they are completely random but you never know when brainstorming might give you an idea...

All the issues are global to the building
nothing recently added to the room eg equipment
I have even located it to a different part of the building with different conditions but have the same issues
the unit is an appliance, and has no servicable parts in it. think of it as a large linksys router. it's an all in one box.
It is possible that the Power supply (brick) is wearing out, but find it weird that the problem would manifest after 5 days. if it was power related, the problem should be more immediate, or less exact in the time that it takes for the problem to occur.
I think that yes, there is something on the board that might be wearing out (bad memory or nic) but of course its all built in and soldered on.
It's unforntunate now that the only recourse I have is to replace the unit for $2000 for an outdated crappy system that relies on a box to do voip.
I am slowly replacing the handsets with Cisco 7921s, but they're still $600 a pop, and I have 20 spectralinks left.

Sounds like an Ethernet port mismatch problem. I have worked for two manufacturers of CPE and in both cases port mismatches over time would cause problems - but only after a time.

I would try setting all equipment to AUTO speed and AUTO duplex and then cross your fingers~

sorry to say, but I did that already.
When we were running auto, the problem was unattenable. in both locations, and 2 different switches after ensuring they were auto.
I had to hard set the switch to 10mbit on both ends to get it to last 5 days.
it must be a hardware problem.
