OK I have a SVP100 server A data switch A lINKSYS Access POINT, I640 ptx141 Spectralink wireless phones.
I need o upgrade the firmware on them. what is the rightway to upgrade them. I have a TFTP server running with the proper files,
I get the phones saying "checking code" then no PBX. I don't a PBX to upgrade the firmware. Do you think my access point is compatable?
If someone have the proper firmware procedure can you guide me here?

Thanks!

Hi,

I used to use an external TFTP server to upgrade my spectralink phones but found it a bit of a pain because our IT team decided to lock our laptops down and caused us no end of problems. I also found it irritating running the phones with statically assigned IP addresses because some engineers don't like to follow procedure and document IP addresses etc. So what I normally do is upload the firmware onto the 3300 in the TFTP section. If you still choose to statically assign your IP address information then point it to the 3300.

Upload the firmware using an FTP client like Filezilla. I can't remember the exact destination address that the tftp folder is but you should find it easily enough. login click up a level and its something like vmail/db/tftp

I think it is the 1640s that had the flash config issue on 101.025 firmware. 027 firmware fixes this.

I've never done it with a 3300 being from the Axxess/5000 side, so I did not have the onboard TFTP option. I use Solarwinds TFTP for upgrading spectralink:
Do you see any TFTP activity on the TFTP PC when attempting to upgrade?

If you do not see this activity it is most likely due to a Network configuration issue or Access Point security. Here are some items to check:

1) Check the Access Point to see if the MAC address of your Wireless set is a registered device on that AP.
2) Turn Security off in the Access Point and Handset.
3) Ensure your using an IP address on the set that ISN’T in the Alias IP address range programmed in the SVP Server.
4) Try to get all Devices on the same subnet. This includes: Access Point, ICP, SVP Server, TFTP Server and Wireless Set.
