Hi all,

I am attempting to install new Spectralink 8020 handsets on an existing site that currently have spectralink E340 handsets. The phone gets an ip address and then displays No SVP Response. The SVP is on the same subnet as the handsets. I have gone through the documentation and see that you should have Netlink selected under SVP-II settings, however I have not got that option. The SVP type I have is 020 and hardware version is 33/02.

I am sure that the firmware needs to be updated but I have a few questions before I do that.
Will the existing E340 handsets still work? Will I have to move all handsets to the newer type?
Have I missed something else?

I am running AP's on an HP Wez Module and as far as I can see, WMM is not an option so I am stuck with the SVP server.

The old Spectralink phones used the Alias IP setup with the SVP server having two IP address ranges. One was used by the 3300 to communicate to the phone via the SVP server and the other was for the SVP handset to talk to the handset. The SVP server mapped the two ranges and handled the routing. ... Least thats what I remember. Thought the SIP handsets didn't need the Alias anymore. Like I said its been a while.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.
