I have a Cisco 3750-E with IOS version 12.2(40)SE. Can I turn off Spanning Tree in order to avoid port flapping in a lab testing environment? Thanks in advance.

If you mean will it help with a port going up and down....no. If a port is flapping up and down there is a problem with it. Cabling etc....explain more pls.

I want to perform layer 1 testing using a bit error rate test set through the 3750-E 10Gig ports. Seeing that I have only one test port, I must place a loopback somewhere in the path beyond the 3750. I would like to turn off flap detection and increase the throughput through the switch. My question is, is it possible to turn off spannig-tree and flap detection in the 3750 or do I have to buy a second test set? Thanks
