Hello,
We have a user that was spammed with 5 thousand email, because this he is not receiving any emails, I tried to delete the emails from the mailbox but Im not Not able to delete them from the Mailbox!!, I left it deleting over Night but came back next day and the GW globe down the left was still saying deleting Items, and I had to stop it because seems nothing happent at all. we are using GW 5.5 sp5.
does any body has an Idea of other way to delete these email from this mail box? and why takes so long and at the end nothing happens?

thanks.

Sounds like you're trying to delete them all at once..

Have you tried deleting in groups of 5 to 50 at a time? It will be slow going any way you slice it. I know our Groupwise is on a Xeon 2.8ghz PC with 2 GB RAM, and just to mark ~150 email as read and move them to another folder can take 5 to 20 seconds depending on what everyone else in our rather small (~120 users) environment. (It would help if we ran less on that one server)

I had a similar issue once when a user put a vacation rule into a loop. I simply archived the valid messages and restored the ofuserdb with one from a backup.

This is what I did:
I ran a mailbox repair on the affected user then after that I was able to delete 4962 at the time, it took me like 4 hours but I deleted them all from the sent item, mailbox and trash.

thanks all....

Good work.

I ran into a similar situation a few months ago. I convinced the user that the best way to remedy the situation was to delete their account and recreate it with a new username.

The clinching factor was: "Sure, I can clean your mailbox. But, you'll still be on all these lists and you're going to continue to get all this spam."

She's been happy ever since. And, I was happy because it was much easier than spending hours cleaning out her mailbox.
