space between controls (vertical)

I have a list of checkboxes (and radiobuttons) and there's just a hair bit too much space between them vertically. I have a css class for these controls, but I'm stumped as to which property will control this? I've tried many of them with no avail.

Please help! Thank you guys!
 
There is a list of doctypes that work -- that is, shift the browsers accessing the page with the doctype into standards mode as opposed to quirks mode. Bottom line is, if doctype is not on the list, than putting it on the website will not have any effect whatsoever. Rule is, when adding doctypes for HTML 4.01 and higher, one must always include the url to the doctype declaration where the browser can get the specs from. ah, yes, I was aware the URL had to be in there for it to be valid, I thought maybe there was another problem. Good to point it out though, it pays to be accurate when posting code and other information. My bad, thanks!
