I have tried several times to install SP4 with the same results. It fails to complete. The applicable contents of the svcpack.log file are shown below.

Any ideas as to what is going on?

Were you logged on as the "administrator"?

Best Regards,

Yes, I was logged on as administrator.

I finally was able to get SP4 installed after a couple months of trying. What I did was, after I received the messages saying the the installation failed, I walked away from the computer for about a half hour without clicking on the buttons to return the computer to its previous state. A message finally appeared that offered the option to continue with the installation. I reluctantly chose to do so. Finally the machine tried to reboot, and hung up. I then cut the power off and rebooted. SP4 is now installed and working fine.

the message never appeared for me. I did however get lsass.exe crashing and hence the server rebooted - this may be because it was attacked by someone. After the reboot, the server shows as having SP4 installed and appears to work ok. I ran to check what it thought and it didn't list SP4 as a required update. My svcpack.log was very similar to the one above, failing to delete a file. The error didn't occur until the end of the install process.
Ah, one important point, our normal servers SP4 installed fine, it's only on vmware housed servers that it won't....
