Source Code Control programs

I was wondering if anyone was using any other type of multi user source code control and conflict management. I am trying to determine what products are out there so that we can choose the one that best suits our needs.

By "any other type" I assume you mean "other than VSS." I've used StarTeam a bit, and it has some features that VSS does not have. All in all, though, I'm just more comfortable with the VSS interface.

You are correct in assuming that I meant products other than Visual Source Safe. I have used VSS in the past, and I do like the features it contains. Someone else also tipped me on to StarTeam. I checked out their website and was impressed, but when I attempted to download information, I was informed that StarTeam is not sold in my area (I am in Lancaster, PA)?!?!?!?

Anyway, I am trying to research all of the source code control products out there, so that I may recommend the one that best meets the needs of our programming department.

I use CS-RCS (available from

http://www.componentsoftware.com).

Personal versions of it are free to download, and the network versions are not that expensive. There is also a magic utility to allow 2 files to be compared and show the differences. I've not used VSS, so can't help you with a comparison. Good luck
