Using dreamweaver4'1 playsound behaviour I've made some buttons "play sounds" Problem is, the result is unpredicatable. Sometimes, a sound will play, sometimes nothing will happen, sometimes real player will open?!?, sometimes a file will start downloading, depending on the browser, the browser version, or whether the user is on a mac or pc.

Does anyone know where to go to can find out how to get my sounds to play on ALL setups, or at least in ie5+, ns4.7-6 on a pc and on a mac?

If the buttons don't bark at you, then things are not working.

Hi,

Here is my two cents about sounds in webs sites. Personally I don't believe that having a sound play when you click a button is benificial in anyway. It's causes your site to load slower, not to mention the undesirable results it gives. And lastly, people may not want to hear sounds while they are at work ect. Do you provide a button to turn this feature off? In my opinion concentrate your efforts on the content of your web site, and your visitors will thank you. I have yet to go back to a web site because of a nice sound that played when I clicked the buttons!

Just my two cents!

Best of luck with your site!

I have had the same problem and I haven't really focused on figuring it out. Instead I have used flash to make any sounds I need.

So if someone has a worthwhile response, I too would be interested.....I must have missed the memo, sounds aren't considered content?!
