I recently bought an old Gateway E-1600 desktop from 2000 or so. It works great, and I've installed Windows 98 without any hassle.
Well... Mostly. The video only outputs to a maximum resolution of 640x480 and colour depth of 16. I would really like at least 256 colours and maybe a higher resolution. On top of that, there is no sound, with the exception being the built in IBM sounding speakers, which are only available with select DOS games.
My guess is that I need some kind of sound card, like a Sound Blaster 16 to get the sound working, but I could be wrong. And as for the video, would it just be as simple as getting an SVGA monitor and installing the drivers? Or is it something more complex than that? Hopefully you can help me out.
Thanks for any help!
