Hey,
I just got a call from a client/friend (doing some consulting on the side), and he is having trouble with the BCMS server crapping out almost daily. So I am looking for some help:

(PBX software v12 on s8710 Ip connect. Callcenter rel 9 and BCMS rel 2 with lan connectivity to switch.)

1. I know it has a login ont he switch but when I stat that login it does not seem to be logged in.
2. How can I get the server to log into the PBX?
3. How easy or wise is it to uninstall the software and reinstall it?
4. If I reboot the box is there a executable or script that runs and attempts to log on to the PBX? Where can I find this process if I don't reboot.
5. Is there a way to confirm the switch is sending over data?
6. Lastly what are your recommendations regarding a replacement that is not full blown CMS or is there CMS to be had for less than 30K?

Any help at all would be appreciated because I have little clue as why this keeps happening and am not that familiar with setup.

Thanks in advance!!

BCMS actually logs into the switch and request data it is not automatically sent by the switch I would log into ASA using BCMS login and password and pull some BCMS reports.

If it is working part of the day either the switch is disconnecting for some reason or there is a problem with the server you may want to look at the list history on the PBX and see if there is anything out of the ordinary there.

As far as a replacment you may want to look at N-focus I currently use N-focus in 2 large call centers and it works great. Not to mention it is much less expensive than CMS.

So how do you set up the login from the server? Is it a utility or shortcut on the server?
There is definitely a login for it on the switch.

Thanks

Unfiortunatly it has been quite some time since I have used BCMS and I dont remember. I use N-focus now.

make sure there is no anti virus software on the pc. This screws up the database file. Check the error log on the BCMS.

You can refer to the following BCMS manuals, which can guide your friend. If your friend is considering reinstalling the BCMS server software, I'd recommend going one step further and doing a fresh install of the Windows operating system.

BCMS is quite finicky about other software on the same PC. Even Avaya states that the BCMS server should be dedicated just for BCMS.

Just make sure the historical database is backed up prior to any reinstall.
