Greetings,

I'm in a bit of a pickle.

We have 1 windows 2000 server. It serves as a file server and shared internet connection. Previously we hosted our website and ftp and mail.
Out mail server was crap (IPSwitch) so we decided to outsource our website/ftp and mail. I set up email and ftp accounts and set up the website. You can get to everything as long as your not on our server.
I checked the DC and it's name is fine but the Domain Name for the active directory is the same as our website. Since we only have the 1 server and I can't simply rename the active directory domain name. What can I possibly do to allow users inside our network to access the correct website and email. Now it's just resolving back to the original website and mail. I also disabled IIS but that alone didn't do it.
Please, any suggestions would be apprciated!
Thanks,

You should make new host record on your local DNS server, hostname www, IP address your current webserver's address. See this thread96-1019196

Karlisi,

Thank you, thank you a million times thank you!!!

Not only was this the exact situation but your explination to the original poster was simplistic yet extremly informative. Fantastic job.

I was under the impression that we would have to rename the AD NS at the very least. However, all I had to do was add two host files. 1 = "www" and the other = "mail"

Bravo!
