Hi all,

I am trying to show values that appear in AS in alphabetical order and do not see any options in FM for doing so.
When I initially set out to do that, I assumed that it would be a very easy thing to do, but it is proving to be a PITA.
Am I missing something?
Please help!

Many thanks.

Anyone?
I never expected this to be such a problem, but it seems that theer is no solution to this rather basic requirement?

Please help!

Is there a special reason for expecting that FM should take care of the order in which data is displayed in a frontend tool?

Both relational and multidimensional datasources do not bother with the ordering of data within the storage medium.

Ordering is enforced by the query that is submitted by the reporting/ analysis tool..

I do not agree with the last answer. With Transformer, you are able to give a "default sort" method for any hierarchy, which is very useful for TIME dimension for instance.

With DMR modelisation, even with an "order by" in the underlying query, you won't be able to pre-sort members in a given dimension. Therefore, in ReportStudio, OLAP functions such as "closingPeriod" or "periodsToDate" are unusable.

I create a case to the Cognos Support who recognized that it is an improvement issue.

Fair enough, my answer did not include physical cubes :)

Hi,

Is is something of an issue with DMR at the moment. All I can suggest is that you log it with Cognos and see what response you get.

Regards,

MF.
