I have a Pivottable Excel file that uses calculated fields in the DATA section. Is there a way I can sort on a column in this summary area? I saw somewhere to do Field Settings, then click on Advanced, but I don't have an Advanced... Any ideas?

If you right click in the data, it won't show up. Click on the row names going down the left, then right click, then Field Settings, then Advanced. Your not really sorting the data, you are sorting the rows by using the data in the columns.

that should get you where you need to go.

Not sure I get it... don't have row names? I have column names in the DATA section..

I misunderstood how the Pivot Table was put together. You should be able to right click on a column heading, choose Field Setings, then click onthe Advanced buton on the right. Your table whould look like this...

Column Heading Column Heading Column Heading
Column Tot column Tot column Tot

Am i right? IF so, just right click on the heading like above. Your columns will sort right to left, or vice versa.

Thanks for the help - appreciate it...yes, that is how my pivot is set up..
However I want to sort the rows based on the values in one of the columns.

Hi,

Right click on the left-most row heading in the PT and select Field Settings > ADVANCED -- Sort option -- USING FIELD... and here, select the DATA FIELD you want to sort by.

Don't take a [red]FIFTH[/red] on the [red]THIRD[/red]
Or you might not come [red]FORTH[/red] on the [red]FIFTH[/red]
