Sorting by Month and Year in a crosstab.

Need some help with this one.

I currently have a formula that works out the month and year (IE Jan-05, Mar-05 etc...) but when this formula is used in my cross tab, the months and year are not sorting correctly. (Looks like alphabetically/numerically) I need to display the Month and Year across the top of the page.

My crosstab needs to display the amount of customer queries that have been logged by month and year.


Jan 04 Dec 04 Jan 05 Mar 05
Customer Queries 10 2 15 25

Instead I’m getting:

Dec 04 Jan 04 Jan 05 Mar 05
Customer Queries 2 10 15 25


I'm hoping this is a common problem and somthing that has been addressed in the past. Just cant find any specific threads on it though.

Any assistance or reference to other threads would be appreciated.

Instead of using a string version of your date for your column field, use an actual date and then while it is highlighted, go to group options->print on change of month. This will give you the correct order. Then in preview format the column header by right clicking->format field->date->customize->month: "Mar"->day: None->year: yy.
