Sort Key in Cognos 8

Hello,

I have a crosstab with a sort key for the rows. With the sort key showing, it works fine. After I "cut" the sort key out, the sorting no longer works, it just displays the rows as if there is no sort. Looking at query explorer, the sort key is still in the query.

"Cutting" the sort key out was the way to do it in CRN, now it appears this does not work.

Anyone have any help?

Have You tried the "Advanced Sorting" option under the Sort menu?

Thanks! I actually did play around with this option for a while.

But now I tried it again and I got it to work.

You do not have to add the sort key to the report at all. Put it in the query, select the crosstab, and then do to data -> sorting in the properties. (or data -> advanced sorting in the menu. Choose the sort key there.

Edit: My above post should read select the field in the crosstab you want to sort key to sort on, not select the crosstab.
