I am creating a report using a table. The user wants to be able to click on the column Heading of the table and sort the table by that column.

For example the report contains Name, Address, Date.
the user wants to be able to sort the report by clicking on the Name or Address or Date column headings.

Hi
Sorry to make this posting again but iwas going through the responses for your thread and thought i can throw a note here. My script at the site will give you the complete solution using only javascript. No need of any server side langauge like ASP etc.

mail me at webmaster@bmchebbi.com if you have problems tuning the script to meet your needs.

Thanks
Badrinath Chebbi

but neither of these javascript solutions will work in netscape.

Hi

I believe discord didnt check the link i gave on netscape. It works great on IE and Netscape, but yeah if youare talking about Netscape4 then yes it doesnt work on netscape4.

windows 2000 pro. i didn't check with netscape 6. i checked with netscape 4

Thanks to everyone for the tips and scripts.

I have implemented the htc method. The footprint was smaller thatn the javascript code.

Thanks again for the responses

chebbi, I'm using win 98 and ie6 and the sorting did not work. The table headings were not links to click simply text.
